ARMY celebrates SUGA’s 2nd anniversary as full member of KOMCA!

On January 30th KST, ARMY shared their favorite Min PD-nim creations to celebrate SUGA’s 2nd anniversary as a full member of KOMCA! We used the hashtag #MinPDxKOMCA.

Suga was promoted to full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) in 2018. Making him the first BTS member to be promoted to a full member of the KOMCA!

He appears on the listing under two names: SUGA and Min Yoongi.

About KOMCA

KOMCA was established in 1964 and is now one of the largest not-for-profit music associations in Asia. It only chooses 25 members per year to promote to full members.

The association administers public performance and broadcasting rights, and recording and reproduction rights. Initial membership is classified as “associate” and promotion is very strict.

To become a full member, the music publisher needs to have signed up as an associate member at least three years before. Importantly, they also need to be classified as having contributed “substantial music creation” during that time by KOMCA’s board.

All BTS members are associate members of KOMCA, but only SUGA was promoted to full member at the end of January 2018. RM and J-Hope joined him in January 2020.
